MCCAA launches educational workbook on product safety in primary schools

The MCCAA has officially launched an educational workbook titled “Safety Detectives on a Mission”, aimed at primary school students in Years 4 , 5 and 6, with the goal of promoting greater awareness about product safety through an interactive and educational approach.

This workbook forms part of the MCCAA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening consumer education from an early age by providing practical tools and child-friendly information.

Through a variety of activities, the publication addresses essential topics such as identifying dangerous products, the importance of safety labels, including the CE mark, as well as the need to seek help from adults when in doubt.

The workbook also includes practical scenarios that reflect everyday situations, such as the use of faulty equipment or the dangers associated with small batteries, helping children understand how to act safely. In addition, it introduces basic principles of safe online shopping, which are increasingly relevant in today’s digital world.

The content is presented in a way that encourages active participation by children through exercises, educational games, and creative activities, with the aim of reinforcing learning and promoting responsible behaviour.

The workbook will be distributed in primary schools across Malta and Gozo, forming part of the Authority’s broader initiatives aimed at consumer protection and the promotion of product safety.
