User Guidelines – Repair of Goods *Click to Download*
The proposed provisions transpose Directive (EU) 2024/1799 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 June 2024 on common rules promoting the repair of goods and amending Regulation (EU) 2017/2394 and Directives (EU) 2019/771 and (EU) 2020/1828.
The Directive seeks to achieve a higher level of consumer protection whilst also increasing circularity within the economy, by promoting the repair of goods purchased by consumers and reducing the premature disposal of viable goods.
The Directive is transposed into national law by means of the proposed Repair of Goods Regulations, 2026, which establish the framework for the repair of goods purchased by consumers, including the related obligations of economic operators and the role of the competent national authorities.
