Notification of Concentration

 

In terms of regulation 5(4) of the Control of Concentrations Regulations 2002, published in Legal Notice 294 of 2002, the Director General of the Office for Competition notifies for general information that a notification of a concentration between Phoenix Tower International group (Florida, U.S) and Epic Communications Limited (Luqa, Malta) was filed on Monday, 22 March 2021.

The nature of the concentration is an acquisition of sole control by Phoenix Tower International of M.T. Mediterranean Towers Limited from Epic Communications Limited.

Phoenix Tower International is an international group, part of the US-based global asset management firm the Blackstone Group, that owns, operates and manages wireless communications infrastructure sites. Epic Communications Limited is a telecommunications service provider. M.T. Mediterranean Towers Limited is a limited liability company which is owned by Epic Communications Limited. Following the proposed concentration, M.T. Mediterranean Towers will operate certain assets carved out from Epic’s portfolio, namely, passive infrastructure for the provision of hospitality services for telecommunications operators, including towers, rooftops and small cells.

The Director General of the Office for Competition invites interested third parties to submit their written objections on this notified concentration within seven days following publication of this notice at the below address or by email competition@mccaa.org.mt.
