Earlier this month, the MCCAA hosted a high-level delegation from the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The MCCAA delegation, was led by Director General (SMI) George Cutajar, including Director for Standardisation Neil Attard and former Director General (SMI) Francis Farrugia. The GSA delegation was headed by Director General Alexander Nii Oto Dodoo, while the FDA was represented by CEO Delese Darko and other officials. The Ghana High Commissioner, H.E. Barbara Akoukor Benisa, opened the meeting by emphasising the strong diplomatic ties between Ghana and Malta and expressing anticipation for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in areas such as standardisation, consumer complaints, and sustainable use of pesticides. The meeting featured presentations from both sides, detailing the structure and functions of the MCCAA and the control systems in Ghana. Discussions highlighted the potential for Ghana to adopt best practices from the European/Maltese control system.
The event concluded with the signing of the MoU, signifying a commitment to ongoing collaboration in conformity assessments and training.
