PUBLIC CONSULTATION

PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON THE EVALUATION AND IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF PESTICIDES DIRECTIVE TO ACHIEVE THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF PESTICIDES

The European Commission has launched an Online Public Consultation targeted but not limited to, farmers and contractors applying pesticides, non-agricultural users of pesticides, health and environmental NGOs, professional associations representing industry and economic actors in relevant sectors (e.g. beekeepers, chemical, pesticide application equipment and seed industries etc.), consumer associations, EU citizens, national competent authorities and scientific experts.

The aim of this consultation is to provide the stakeholders involved in the application of the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive and the wider public with the opportunity to share their experiences. The Sustainable Use of Pesticides  Directive is transposed in national legislation SL 430.08 entitled Sustainable Use of Pesticides Regulations.

The consultation allows respondents to express their views on possible ways to better achieve the objective of the Directive in the sustainable use of pesticides in the EU by reducing the risks and impacts of pesticide use on human health and the environment and promoting the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and of alternative approaches or techniques, such as non-chemical alternatives to pesticides.

The consultation via a questionnaire is structured to facilitate the participation of both experts and non-experts with dedicated questions to different respondent groups.

The link for the online consultation can be found below and will remain open until the 12th April 2021:

Further information on the public consultation can be retrieved from the above link.

You may wish to contribute to this consultation, by filling in the online questionnaire.
