In terms of regulation 5(4) of the Control of Concentrations Regulations, 2002 published in Legal Notice 294 of 2002, the Director General of the Office for Competition notifies for general information that a notification of a concentration between Entain plc (Douglas, Isle of Man), through its subsidiary bwin Holdings (Malta) Limited (Valletta, Malta), and Enlabs AB (Sigtuna, Sweden) was filed on Thursday, 28 January 2021.
The nature of the concentration is an acquisition of sole control of Enlabs AB by Entain plc, through its subsidiary bwin Holdings (Malta) Limited.
Entain plc is a sports-betting and gaming group operating both online and in the retail sector (gaming outlets). It is present at both B2C and B2B levels. In B2C, Entain plc operates various brands, amongst others, bwin, Coral, Crystalbet, Eurobet, Ladbrokes, Sportingbet, CasinoClub, Foxy Bingo, Gala, Gioco Digitale, partypoker and PartyCasino. In B2B, it provides its services to the online gaming and sports betting industry through its proprietary gaming platform. Enlabs AB operates, through its subsidiaries, within three business areas namely online gaming, performance-based marketing and solutions to businesses. Enlabs AB operates under multiple brands, with the primary ones being Optibet and BestPoker.
Both bwin Holdings (Malta) Limited and Enlabs AB, through its subsidiary BestBet Limited, hold B2C Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 Gaming Service Authorisation licences issues by the Malta Gaming Authority.
